So a few months back, I decided to surprise my mom by digitally remastering my grandfather's collection of son huasteco tapes. My mom had brought back his collection from Mexico after he passed away several years ago, but she was going to toss them out because they were so old she doubted they worked anymore. I asked if I could have them, and in the last year or so have slowly gotten what I could from the tapes that still worked. While working on this, I quickly fell in love with the style and listening to the music brought back very fond memories of lying in bed on a hot summer night while my grandfather sat out on the porch with his guitar' singing and playing the music he loved. I'd like to explore this kind of music more, and was wondering if there are any other fans of this music on here who could recommend some artists or groups that I should check out. Thanks.
I can't say I know much about son heustecko, but i've enjoyed the little i've heard. I particularly like the broken time signature. Does anybody know what the time signature is and a good way of learning it?
